We can't all "live in a yellow submarine" all of the time but you can vacation in one. This yellow submarine isn't IN the ocean but you can't stay much closer! Panoramic vistas of the Atlantic, a full-sized hot-tub and plenty of room for the entire family. Yellow Submarine features phenomenal living on the ocean-side deck. Savor your morning coffee, meals or an evening drink while you watch your family, friends and maybe even some dolphins at play.
The location in South Nags Head is arguably the best on the Outer Banks for a family vacation. It is a completely low-density residential area that is enveloped by the Hatteras National Seashore yet is only mins. from all of the shopping and recreation that you need. Families will find the peaceful, low-traffic non-commercial ambiance calming, but you will savor how painless it is to drive to the grocery store, eateries, the movie theater, or a putt-putt course. The enormous multi-use path that parallels Old Oregon Inlet Road for its 4.5 mile length is great for running, cycling, or walking. For the avid angler, Oregon Inlet Fishing Center is just a couple of miles south of Yellow Submarine along the beautiful beaches of the undeveloped Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. The fishing center has boat ramps and a full-service marina. Yellow Submarine is the ideal spot for your next beach vacation: relaxing and out-of-the-way living just a short trip from all of the activities and services the Outer Banks has to offer!

Nags Head rental booking tips:

When to book a Nags Head rental & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Reserve your Nags Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose and book a perfect Nags Head rental home:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanfront in South Nags Head! Unbeatable views and private hot tub! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
