Getting the best rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Nags Head. To find the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking the perfectrental:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. The Legacy: Semi-oceanfront, Private Pool, Spa has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. message the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
