Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. K1127 Shorenuff. Pool, Hot Tub, Fenced Yard, Pool Table & Foosball! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
