Strategies to get the very best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer time is high season in the Nags Head area. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. K1127 Shorenuff. Pool, Hot Tub, Fenced Yard, Pool Table & Foosball! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. text the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
