Tricks and tips to get the very best rental home experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best vacation home in Nags Head:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Life Is Good: Ocean & Sound Views, Private Pool & Hot Tub, Quick Walk to Beach has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
