Tips and Tricks to get the very best Nags Head vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting and booking a perfectrental:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Pet Friendly in the Heart of Nags Head has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
