How to find the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Reserve your Nags Head vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies supply Nags Head area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the best vacation home in Nags Head:

  • First, have your group decide on the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Sunset Shack: Soundfront, great sunsets, hot tub, community pool & tennis courts has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Have a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
