Nags Head vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summer is high season in the Nags Head area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your family commit to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sunwatch: Soundfront, Hot Tub, Private Boat Dock and Community Pool Access has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
