Rental property booking tips:

Finding the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. Book your Nags Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sunnyside Up: Oceanfront, Hot Tub, Pool Access has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
