Our top Nags Head rental booking tips:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your family's Nags Head vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. SN10247 - Oceanside with 2 BR's, Front porch ocean view, easy beach access! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
