About this Property

The Egret's Nest is waterfront on the Roanoke Sound and adjoins the 500 acre Jockey's Ridge State Park. Fronting on arguably the most handsome stretch of sound-shore beach of the entire Outer Banks, the Egret's Nest is a great location for wind-surfers, kayakers, hang-gliders and bird-watchers. The Sound shore near the Egrets Nest is a great place for kids to play (and parents relax). The shallow sound waters don't have the currents and waves of the ocean and we never have "red flag" days!
The location of the Egrets Nest is one of the best wind-surfing launch sites on the entire east coast. It's also a great spot for modest sailboats. Vacationers will appreciate the peaceful and privacy of the Egrets Nest location. While the site has no adjacent neighbor to the south, the vast open waters of the Roanoke Sound to the west, and nearly a mile of Jockey's Ridge State Park to the north and east: it is shared by the Austin residence as shown on the site plan. The Egrets Nest is attached by a modest ten foot common wall to the Austin's private residence. The pier and driveway are shared. The parking and entrance are separate and private.

Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Reserve your Nags Head rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
