Rental property booking tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in Nags Head. Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Shore Havin' Fun! Pup-friendly PierView Condo with Incredible Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
