Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Nags Head vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking your Nags Head rental home:

  • First, have your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Amazing Grace -- Unique and Charming 3BR Oceanfront in South Nags Head has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
