Tips for getting the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:

Get the best value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental home:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Honzie's Hideaway: Oceanside, Shared Pool, Tennis has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
