Our top Nags Head rental booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. Reserve your Nags Head rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Views at Good Day Sunshine has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a specific Nags Head beach you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Have a wonderful stay:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
