Tricks and tips to get the best Nags Head vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the perfect rental:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Harrell's Retreat: Oceanside, Beach Club Access has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
- If there's a specific Nags Head destination you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
