Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to visit Nags Head & When to book:

  • Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Lovely 3 Bedroom Oceanside Cottage With No Street To Cross. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
