Our top Nags Head vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Nags Head 364: Pet Friendly, Newly Remodeled, Oceanside, Short Stays Anytime! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
