Strategies to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and picking the best Nags Head rental home:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. K1201 This is it. MP 16, ELEVATOR, Ocean Views! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
