Rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, shift your family's Nags Head vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Nags Head
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you long to visit, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
