Nags Head vacation rental tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- To book the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Nags Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Good vibes and family times has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
