Tips to get the perfect Nags Head vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Nags Head. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the perfect vacation home in Nags Head:

  • To start, have your family select vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Pelican View: Semi-oceanfront, ocean views, private pool & hot tub and elevator has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
