Tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:

When to visit Nags Head & When to book:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. Book your Nags Head rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the perfect rental home in Nags Head:

  • To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Pelican View: Semi-oceanfront, ocean views, private pool & hot tub and elevator has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is right for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
