Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. Reserve your Nags Head rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental home:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Favorite Place: Private pool, hot tub, foosball, basketball or ping pong, oceans has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
