Getting the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. No Regrets: Semi-Oceanfront, Private Pool, 2 Spas has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More tips for your stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
