Tricks and tips to get the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Nags Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Selecting the perfect vacation home:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Baltrush Bungalow: Oceanside, hot tub, community pool & tennis court, short walk to beach. has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
