Tips to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental home:

  • Start by having your group commit to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Family Friendly Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is suitable for your group.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
