Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Nags Head vacation rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Select dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Little Pink Cottage OBX - 50 steps to your Private Beach Access! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
