Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Nags Head attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. BEACH GETAWAY! Walk to beach. Hot tub, close to shops, dogs allowed has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
