Welcome to Any Excuse – our family beach bungalow located in South Nag’s Head, NC (milepost 17.5). We named our bungalow “Any Excuse” because, rather honestly, we will use any excuse to spend time in the Outer Banks! Our bungalow is furnished with tons of personal touches and modern amenities to make you feel right at home. Public beach access is just a short walk from the bungalow (1/2 block).

Any Excuse is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom bungalow. The downstairs bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and has a screened in back porch. Upstairs, there is a huge bedroom with a king bed as well as a smaller room with a queen bed. Linens are supplied. Both upstairs rooms have private decks. Several air beds including a toddler size one are also available for use. There are two full baths, one downstairs and one upstairs with tub/shower combination in both.

We are equipped with complimentary high-speed WIFI, 3 intelligent TV’s, and 2 blue ray players. The kitchen is equipped with stove/oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, Keurig and a traditional coffeemaker. Dishes, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, etc. are also supplied. The dining area accommodates 6 and additional seating for 2 is available at the kitchen bar. Washer and dryer are located on the main floor. Our comfortable den area includes a full size couch, upsized chair with ottoman, recliner and single swivel rocker. There is a sizable deck off the dining/den with 2 porch swings, and 2 chairs. This deck faces the ocean and is great for calming at any time of the day.

There is a nice storage space on the ground level where you will find beach chairs, beach toys, outdoor games, bicycles, and body boards. A propane grille is available for your use. There is an outdoor shower with hot/cold water for simple and fun clean up after a day at the beach. Our additional-enormous driveway accepts for room to appreciate the hammock or create an outside entertainment area.

This is a smoke-complimentary bungalow.

Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the best vacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. \"Any Excuse\" - great cottage, great views, great beach access, great get away has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.

Considerations for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
