Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Nags Head. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the perfect Nags Head rental home:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. 361 - Dog-Friendly Ocean-Facing Duplex - Gorgeous Beach Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
