Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Nags Head rental experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Booking in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Nags Head vacation home:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 361 - Dog-Friendly Ocean-Facing Duplex - Gorgeous Beach Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If not, email or call the host before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
