Your Outer Banks vacation will be all about joy and relaxation when you book The Merry Mermaid! This freshly redecorated and newly painted oceanview bungalow features roomy decks, ocean vistas, a sizable great room and 3 comfortable bedrooms that are sure to help you wind down and embrace the laid-back coastal lifestyle. When you're craving a leisurely walk on the sand or plan to spend the whole day splashing in the waves, the nearest beach access is only 500-ft (just a 2-min. walk) away!

As you pull up, you will find plenty of parking space in the driveway and beneath the home in the carport. An enclosed outdoor shower makes it painless to rinse off after spending a day at the beach while your very own Private Pool* is ideal for a cool dip on a warm day. You'll appreciate the raised single-level living which helps keep the family together and accepts for delightful vistas. A welcoming great room offers plenty of natural light, cozy furnishings and a wall-mounted Flat-Screen for catching up on your favorite TV show. Cook up your favorite meal at home in the entirely equipped kitchen with modern appliances. There is plenty of seating in the adjoining dining area and additional seating at the kitchen counter. Wash your clothes throughout your stay in the convenient laundry closet.

When it's time to turn in for the evening, a King Master Bedroom with Cable TV and an attached Master Bath is the ideal place to relax. Two other bedrooms are located right down the hall and share access to a full hall bath—one room containing a Queen bed with Cable TV and the other with Pyramid Bunk bed with a trundle and a Cable TV that is ideal for the kids. The giant deck spans the entire length of the home and is a great place for watching sunrises over the coast. For an even better view, climb up the crow's nest deck to the top floor and savor a expansive view of Nags Head.

Explore the Heart of Nags Head
Visitors to The Merry Mermaid will adore the prime location in the heart of Nags Head where they will be able to walk to great eateries, stores, and other local attractions. Less than a 2-min. walk away, check out the Seagreen Gallery full of local art, jewelry, souvenirs and other items made from recycled materials. For lunch, pick up some steamed crab legs, a classic burger, a tasty sandwich, or some fried oysters from Red Drum Taphouse. For dinner, try Dirty Dick's Crab House or Mahi Mahi's Island Grille. To see the area's natural beauty, climb to the top of Jockey's Ridge State Park (the tallest living sand dune on the East Coast) or take a walk through the Nags Head Woods (a natural marine forest full of local flora and fauna). Several fishing piers line Nags Head's wide, open beaches and allow for anglers of any skill level to try their luck reeling in the biggest catch. For a day of shopping, try the Outlets Nags Head or head to a neighboring OBX town for a little exploration. No matter how you want to spend your vacation, The Merry Mermaid will serve as the ideal home base!

Booking the best Nags Head rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 6009 The Merry Mermaid * 2 Min Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
