Our top Nags Head vacation rental booking tips:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Nags Head area. To find the largest rental within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Nags Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book the right Nags Head vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3 bedroom in Nags Head. Great views. Boat ramp & dock. Hot Tub! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
