Strategies to get the best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Nags Head. To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Selecting the best rental in the Nags Head area:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. WONDERFUL OCEAN VIEWS IN THIS COZY BEACH HOUSE has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
