Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to book a Nags Head rental & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in Nags Head. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing your Nags Head vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sea Think Wonder 4 Bedroom Home in Nags Head has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
