Tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Nags Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Soundside, 3 Bedrooms, Sunday change over, close to shopping, NH316, Marsh Links 16 has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Nags Head beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
