Tips and Tricks to get the best Nags Head rental home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summertime is high season in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Finding the best vacation home in Nags Head:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Trip's OBX: Oceanfront Townhome, Pool, Tennis has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
