Tricks and tips to get the very best rental home experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. Book your Nags Head rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. K0376 Primrose Cottage, Oceanfront only STEPS to the Water, Pet Friendly! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
