Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.

Planning and picking the best Nags Head rental home:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Tangerine Dreams in South Nags Head Ocean Front has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.

- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
