Enjoyed the home and family time!

Wonderful location, Ideal home for two families
5/5 Stayed Aug 2022
The location of the home exceeded our expectations with access to the bay, ocean, and grocery shopping within walking/cycling distance. This home was the ideal size for two families with teens. The kids were able to ride their bicycles to pick up fresh donuts as well as discover the neighborhood, community pool, and beach. Guilio was a marvelous host, very communicative, and fast to respond to the few questions we had upon arrival. We will definitely be returning.

The home was great and very conveniently located.
5/5 Stayed Jul 2022
The property is very close to attractions and a short drive to the pool and beach, but is tucked back in a loop so there isn't a lot of traffic. Very peaceful and calming. Great view of the sound and gorgeous sunsets. Property is well maintained and the owner is great to work with.

Two Crabby in Nags Head
5/5 Stayed Jul 2022
Our family of 7 adults and one kid appreciated staying at Two Crabby. The host was very polite and fast answering my questions. The kitchen was well supplied and many people can work in it at one time because of its layout. It has a handsome view of the sound and the sunsets were spectacular. We appreciated the use of the Village Club home. Nice pool, snack bar and bathrooms. It was a short walk to the beach from the pool area. The Hot tub kept everybody happy for time at the home. A stay at Two Crabby will definitely improve your mood.

A Wonderful OBX Getaway
5/5 Stayed Jun 2022
Our stay at Two Crabby was ideal. The listing is super accurate and the owner was very painless to communicate with. He even arranged for a pre-vacation phone call to check in about any questions we had. The pier was very convenient and was a favorite place to catch the handsome sunsets. We had 8 people staying, two families, each with two kids. The bedroom and bathroom arrangements were ideal and we took advantage of the outdoor shower, too! The kitchen was well equipped and the seating arrangements outside made it simple to appreciate a cup of coffee in the morning, a meal, and evening drinks. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great family vacation

First visit to Nags Head
5/5 Stayed Aug 2021
We spent a week in Nags Head at Two Crabby with our family and another family. It was our first visit to the Outer Banks and we had a great time. Some of the highlights supplied fishing on the pier, parasailing, watching the sunset at the pier and the pool club was impressive! Highly recommend this property!

AWESOME FAMILY BEACH TRIP
5/5 Stayed Jul 2019
☀️Fantastic home and experience during our stay in July 2019. The home had everything a family would need, from entertainment to amenities and kitchen/grille accommodations. The owner Maureen kept in constant touch to ensure everything was ready for a great week. We couldn't keep count of the number great places to lounge around the home, from the patio to multiple decks and of course the hot tub in the evenings. We had two young kids so took full advantage of the pool - very easy to access, plenty of parking. Grocery store is in walking distance so it made it super convenient to grab the essentials. Clean home with a great beach theme and superb WIFI. Would highly recommend!

Having morning coffee on the top deck with the wind off the shore. 20 min drive to Oregon Inlet and able to drive on the beach. The pool and beach access was a plus. Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Brew Thru

No trip to the Outer Banks is complete without cruising through Brew Thru, the Outer Banks’ original drive thru convenience store. Whether you’re looking for a refreshing cold beverage of Coke, Pepsi and other soft drinks on the go, stocking up your cooler with refreshments to enjoy at the beach or piling up on beer and wine for a party, Brew Thru is a fun and unique experience all vacationers need to see for themselves.

Drive-Through Beer & Gear

Brew Thru is Your One-Stop Shop at the Beach

The year was 1977, and Dana and Becky Lawrentz were chatting with friends over brews in their hometown of Akron, Ohio. They got to talking about a gas station convenience store in the area that had built a makeshift drive-through. Everyone agreed it would be pretty great if you could actually drive through a convenience store and pick up everything you needed without getting out of the car. But what would you call a place like that?

Well, you’d call it a Brew Thru.

It was an idea they couldn’t shake, so the Lawrentzes moved to the Outer Banks and built the first Brew Thru with the help of a partner. The idea was that people could come buy everything they would need for their trip to the beach—beer, wine, soft drinks, snacks, ice—without getting out of the car. That same year, a t-shirt salesman visiting the store and talked them into adding t-shirts to their product line—and 44 years later there are now more than five million Brew Thru t-shirts out in the wild.

The Lawrentzes’ daughter Brandy and her husband Philip Foreman purchased the business from them in 2002, and they now operate five locations across the Outer Banks.“We love being the one-stop shop for folks on the way to their beach house,” Foreman says. “Our car tenders are the friendliest people at the beach. We’re here to greet you, get you everything you need for your trip, load it up in the trunk for you, and have you leaving with a smile on your face.”

The store is quite expansive, featuring more than 100 brands of beer, dozens of wines and even a vast selection of cigars—not to mention all the snacks, t-shirts and other gear. To make ordering a little easier, customers in line get a menu—fondly known as the Summer-y—that outlines everything available at the store. These Summer-ies are also available in many of the beach rentals, which allows vacationers to decide what they want before driving through.

For customers who would like to get out and stretch their legs, there’s the Brew Thru Shop in Kill Devil Hills, where you can find their world famous t-shirts and other gifts. New t-shirt designs are created each year, making a yearly Brew Thru t-shirt a favorite of locals and annual visitors to the Outer Banks.

The Foremans both grew up in the Outer Banks, and they love that Brandy’s parents’ vision for a friendly and convenient place for people to grab their brews and other beach stay essentials is continuing to flourish.

“Our family has been welcoming people to the Outer Banks since 1977,” Foreman says. “We love this beautiful place, and we want everybody to get to enjoy it.”
