Enjoyed the home and family time!

Wonderful location, Ideal home for two families
5/5 Stayed Aug 2022
The location of the home exceeded our expectations with access to the bay, ocean, and grocery shopping within walking/cycling distance. This home was the ideal size for two families with teens. The kids were able to ride their bicycles to pick up fresh donuts as well as discover the neighborhood, community pool, and beach. Guilio was a marvelous host, very communicative, and fast to respond to the few questions we had upon arrival. We will definitely be returning.

The home was great and very conveniently located.
5/5 Stayed Jul 2022
The property is very close to attractions and a short drive to the pool and beach, but is tucked back in a loop so there isn't a lot of traffic. Very peaceful and calming. Great view of the sound and striking sunsets. Property is well maintained and the owner is great to work with.

Two Crabby in Nags Head
5/5 Stayed Jul 2022
Our family of 7 adults and one kid appreciated staying at Two Crabby. The host was very polite and fast answering my questions. The kitchen was well outfitted and many people can work in it at one time because of its layout. It has a charming view of the sound and the sunsets were spectacular. We adored the use of the Village Club home. Nice pool, snack bar and bathrooms. It was a short walk to the beach from the pool area. The Hot tub kept everybody happy for time at the home. A stay at Two Crabby will definitely improve your mood.

A Wonderful OBX Getaway
5/5 Stayed Jun 2022
Our stay at Two Crabby was ideal. The listing is super accurate and the owner was very painless to communicate with. He even arranged for a pre-vacation phone call to check in about any questions we had. The pier was very convenient and was a favorite place to catch the pretty sunsets. We had 8 people staying, two families, each with two kids. The bedroom and bathroom arrangements were ideal and we took advantage of the outdoor shower, too! The kitchen was well equipped and the seating arrangements outside made it simple to savor a cup of coffee in the morning, a meal, and evening drinks. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great family vacation

Two Crabby was a great home in a very nice community. We appreciated the location being close to stores and eateries. Great vistas and so nice being so close to the pier/ Sound!!

First visit to Nags Head
5/5 Stayed Aug 2021
We spent a week in Nags Head at Two Crabby with our family and another family. It was our first visit to the Outer Banks and we had a great time. Some of the highlights supplied fishing on the pier, parasailing, watching the sunset at the pier and the pool club was magnificant! Highly recommend this property!

AWESOME FAMILY BEACH TRIP
5/5 Stayed Jul 2019
Fantastic home and experience during our stay in July 2019. The home had everything a family would need, from entertainment to amenities and kitchen/grille accommodations. The owner Maureen kept in constant touch to ensure everything was ready for a great week. We couldn't keep count of the number great places to lounge around the home, from the patio to multiple decks and of course the hot tub in the evenings. We had two young kids so took full advantage of the pool - very easy to access, plenty of parking. Grocery store is in walking distance so it made it super convenient to grab the essentials. Clean home with a great beach theme and magnificant WIFI. Would highly recommend!

Where do I start? There were so many fabulous attributes. Watching the sunset on the pier. Having morning coffee on the top deck with the wind off the shore. 20 min drive to Oregon Inlet and able to drive on the beach. The pool and beach access was a plus. The downstairs master was so comfortable and cozy. Looking forward to staying here again.

Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • To find the best value, shift your family's Nags Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Finding the best vacation rental in the Nags Head area:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 2 Crabby: Feels like home! Spectacular views, beach club Summer 2025 filling up! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Visitors are treated to a unique shopping experience in our main store in Jarvisburg, as well as our beach stores in Corolla, Duck, and Nags Head. Explore room after room filled with décor for your home and coastal fashions for both men and women. Don’t forget the gourmet market, or shop our beautiful linens for your bedroom and bath. We also feature coastal books and fine art, or just a whimsical fun gift to bring home to family and friends. Stop by soon and don’t forget to try our estate grown wines in our stores or visit our vineyard and winery, Sanctuary Vineyards, located adjacent to the original Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
