Nags Head rental home booking tips:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Nags Head vacation home:

  • Choose your dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Steps away from the beach and Nags Head attractions! has 5 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

Tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
