How to get the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Nags Head area. To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Nags Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect vacation home in the Nags Head area:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Sandmann, Semi-Private Beach Access, Great View has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. message the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
