Finding the best vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in the Nags Head area. To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the perfect rental:

  • Start by having your family choose a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. SN10212-Remarkable with private pool, observation room, 4 BRs and pool table. has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head beach you crave, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
