Charming Oceanfront Duplex
“The Crab House” (named by the owner's grandson who loves to hunt for ghost crabs) is a 4-bedroom 3-bath oceanfront duplex in the Village of Nags Head. Located in the Sea Pointe Community, you'll adore the cavernous pool and tennis courts which are just steps away from your front door. The Village of Nags Head also provides community amenities you'll savor including 2 sound beaches, reduced green costs at Nags Head Golf Links, and community tennis & pickleball courts.

The bottom level of the home has a thoughtfully designed layout that offers an open-concept, tiered floor plan that defines the common spaces without dividing them. The living area is ideal for entertaining featuring comfortable seating around a constructed-in entertainment center with bespoke cabinetry, a Flat Screen TV, cozy gas fireplace and wet bar with wine cooler. Appreciate handsome wood floors throughout the great room area which opens up to a covered oceanfront deck. The dining room offers seating for 8 and is adjacent to a breakfast nook and kitchen with cherry cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and additional seating at the bar. A bedroom acts as a Den during the day with LCD TV and screened porch access, but features 2 Twin Beds and a Trundle (which can be pushed against a Twin to create a King bed). The laundry area and a full hall bathroom complete the level.

Outside, a fenced side yard is the ideal spot for playing yard games or grilling up some fresh seafood for dinner. The covered deck will take you right to a walkway to the beach with a shared gazebo. A gorgeous screened porch with plenty of tables and seating space is a great place to relax when you want to appreciate the ocean breeze. A convenient outdoor shower provides a place to rinse off after a day of fun in the sun.

Upstairs, you'll find three additional bedrooms. Rest painless in a Master King Bedroom with electric fireplace, cozy seating area with spectacular vistas, TV, and attached full bath with shower, double vanity, and a whirlpool tub that overlooks the ocean. Another King Bedroom with TV and a third bedroom with a Bunk Bed and Day Bed w/ Pop-Up Trundle share a full-sized bathroom in the hall with double vanity and a shower/tub combo.

Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Nags Head vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Summertime is high season in the Nags Head area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best rental home in the Nags Head area:

  • First, have your group commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. NHSP1A The Crab House * Oceanfront has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your family.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
