Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summertime is high season in Nags Head. Booking in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area travel guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • First, have your family select vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Semi-Oceanfront
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
