Getting the best Nags Head rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Nags Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and picking your Nags Head vacation home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
  • Private Pool, Hot Tub
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
