Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the perfect rental home in the Nags Head area:

  • Start by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Luxury Oceanfront home in South Nags Head! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
