How to book the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Summer Special\/RIGHT ACROSS from OCEAN\/Fenced yard\/pet friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head attraction you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
