Nags Head rental booking tips:

When to visit Nags Head & When to book:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Windjammer: Oceanfront, Shared Pool, Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
