Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your Nags Head vacation home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and picking the rightrental:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Barefootin'- Oceanfront, private pool, hot tub, pool table, private walkway to the beach! has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
