How to get the best Nags Head rental experience:

Get the best value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Ocean's Edge: Oceanfront, Pool, Spa, Dogs OK has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
