Tips to get the very best Nags Head vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental home:
- Choose vacation week and budget.

- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Nags Head destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
